Cook Political Report Shifts TN-7 Rating
Low GOP turnout and motivated Democrats put TN-7's Special Election in play. Aftyn Behn for Congress will hold two campaign events today in Davidson and Williamson counties.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NASHVILLE — Momentum continues to surge in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, as the Cook Political Report officially moved the TN-07 special election from “Solid Republican” to “Lean Republican” — a dramatic shift that reflects the tightening race and unprecedented grassroots energy behind Democratic nominee Rep. Aftyn Behn.
The shift comes as new early-vote data shows what Tennessee Lookout reports as an 80% drop in GOP turnout, while Democratic-leaning precincts across the district are dramatically overperforming expectations. Early vote totals in Davidson County show that highly motivated Democrats and new or infrequent voters are being activated for this race.
The campaign is capturing the hearts and minds of voters across the 7th district and leveraging the organizing infrastructure built over the past decade to knock thousands of doors a week in Democratic strongholds.
Today, Aftyn Behn for Congress will hold two events:
At 3:00 PM CT, the campaign will host a GOTV rally at the Bordeaux Library in Davidson County, bringing together Rep. Behn, community leaders, and local organizers.
At 4:00 PM CT, join Aftyn Behn for Congress for a Williamson County canvass at 4:00 PM, focusing on voter engagement in a critical suburban region of the district.
“The Cook Political Report shift confirms what we’ve been feeling on the ground,” said Rep. Behn. “This race is winnable — not someday, not theoretically, but right now. Voters are showing up because they’re hungry for leadership that will fight for affordable healthcare and hold corporate power accountable. When the people of TN-07 show up, we win — and they’re showing up.”
With Democratic and independent turnout surging — particularly among voters frustrated by rising healthcare costs, tariffs, and Washington’s dysfunction — TN-07 is now officially in play.
Early voting continues through November 26. Election Day is December 2, 2025.
